He graduated from Wisconsin Madison, attaining a degree in meteorology. He first worked with Weather Central, situated in Madison. Later on, he worked as a meteorologist for KGAN-TV and then joined the team at WMT-AM in 1992. Then, he became a well-known member of the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association. At WGN-TV, he worked with many other well-known meteorologists, anchors, sports anchors, and reporters.
In 2010, he became an anchor for the morning weekend news and became a famous forecaster in Chicago. He was the chief meteorologist of WGN and is greatly missed by the WGN family. For four to five weeks, he was struggling to survive, and finally, on March 10, 2021, he succumbed to nature. He peacefully died in his home at the age of 60 and is survived by his step-sisters, nephews, and nieces.
